Biking in Morzine

With 24 ski lifts adapted to carry bikes, 6 bike parks and 24 purpose built downhill runs already in use, plus more planned for summer 2010, the Portes du Soleil is a paradise for lift assisted biking. Mountain biking takes over Morzine in the summer as bikers fill the trails and the bars.

With 650 km of sign posted trails, and plenty more waiting to be sought out the Portes du Soleil offers lots of choice and different trails to ride every day. However, it's easy to come here and miss the best of the trails as the best is not always the easiest to spot! That's where staying with a mountain bike specialist such as flowmtb makes a massive difference. We'll help you find those sweet spots. With staff that have been riding in the area for years and our very own route guides and marked maps (plus GPS support if you want it) you won't miss out.

The lift system carries you and your bike up the hills, allowing you respite before the next breathtaking descent. During your bike holiday in Morzine you can do as little or as much uphill riding as you want!

Miles and miles of cross country tracks are waiting to be explored, and mountain restaurants are open to keep you well fuelled. Portes du Soleil biking trails range from easy family tracks to steep technical descents, to be attempted by experienced riders only! Trails are graded from Green (easy) through blue and red to black (very difficult). We can help you decide which trails to ride or arrange a mountain bike guide to make sure you get the most out of the Morzine biking.

Morzine is perfectly placed in the centre of the Portes du Soleil, with easy access to Les Gets biking on one side, and the trails of Chatel, Avoriaz and the Swiss resorts on the other.

The flowmtb workshop is open for all guests to use, and there are staff on hand to help advise you. Alternatively, there are bike shops in town to fix any breakages you can't.

Beginner Mountain Bikers

There's plenty of riding here for beginners. We get loads of calls from people nervous about the riding here because of seeing photos of downhillers! Once you get out here though, you'll soon realise that there are a lot of trails suitable for beginners and for families. We advise booking a guide/instructor to make sure you get the most out of your Morzine mountain bike holiday. They can take you to the best trails for your ability and teach you the essential skills. We can also point you in the direction of the gentler trails

Intermediate and Advanced riders

The reason you've heard so much about mountain biking in Morzine and the Portes du Soleil is because it is literally littered with fantastic technical trails. For the dwonhillers there are loads of purpose built downhill trails clusetered near the lifts for easy access. For the adventurous XC rider, there are some amazing natural trails to explore. With just a little bit of effort you can reach some fantastic descents. We can help you find the lesser-ridden trails.
