Overview

Do you want a guaranteed place in the front row of a qualifying wave? Book for the Alpe d'Huez Megavalanche with flowmtb and you could get just that. We have 5 guaranteed places in the front row of qualifying waves; 10 guaranteed 2nd row places; and 10 guaranteed 3rd row places. All available on a first come first served basis to anyone who books with us.

A good start position is key to getting a good place in the main event. Everyone registers hoping for a top position, but there are very few available as most go to pro riders with UCI points. We've been able to guarantee you that same privilege.

This special treatment is only available to top pro riders and flowmtb guests! You could be up there with the big names such as Nico Vouilloz, Brendan Fairclough, Fabien Barel, and Chris Kovarick.

You start up at 3,300m on top of a glacier above Alpe d’Huez and finish 32km later in the small town of Allement way down at 800m. Sounds easy right? Come find out for yourself.

We’ve got a fantastic hotel in town for your Megavalanche accommodation. The flowmtb Megavalanche hotel is in the old section of the town known as "vieil alpe" and this traditional feel is carried through the hotel to the rooms which are simple, light and airy, but comfortable with a rustic style. Most of the rooms are en suite and most are south facing, many of them having a balcony. There are a selection of twin rooms, doubles, triples and quads to choose from.

Choose from the usual flowmtb service with food and wine, or just go for B&B and leave yourself free to explore the town at night. Come with flowmtb and your Megavalanche accommodation is right in Alpe d'Huez centre so you are staying where all the action is, close to the Grandes Rousses lift, and to all the sign up and registration info. Don't get left out - make sure you're in Alpe d'Huez where everything will be happening.

Dinner will be served every night, giving you the chance to get to know the other riders and swop trail stories. Three courses of filling biker's grub, with free flowing wine leaves plenty of time to chat about the day's riding. There's even a bar to gather in for beers pre-dinner. We're providing dinner every night as the restaurants in Alpe d'Huez can be pretty pricey. However, if you don't fancy eating in every night, just book B&B and head out to the town's restaurants and bars.

Sara and Guy will both be there all week: we'll help you sort out your race registrations, find out where to eat and point you in the direction of the best trails to ride. We'll have marked up trail maps to make sure you get plenty of the best riding in. This is our fifth summer of doing the Alpe d'Huez Megavalanche and riding the area, so we can help you with all the tricky details!

In keeping with our price slash in Morzine, this year's flowmtb Megavalanche accommodation will be cheaper than ever. Last year a week's B&B with 2 course meals on 2 nights cost €475. In 2010 you get 7 nights of 3 course meals for the same amount! Plus we have even cheaper options if 3 or 4 people share the same room!

The flowmtb Megavalanche week runs from the 5-12 July to enable you to make the most of the biking in Alpe d'Huez. However, you can add on extra nights beforehand to make the most of the trip. Contact us for rates for stays of a different duration.

Our Santa Cruz Hecklers and Bullits (all brand new in 2010) are also available - solely to flowmtb guests. These are the perfect machines for the Mega. We only have limited numbers in each size so let us know asap if you want one.

The Alpe d'Huez Megavalanche is a tough test of your riding skills. Most of it is unlike any UK riding and lots of our guests have mentioned they could have done with some extra coaching, and tips on how to get down safely and quickly. So, for 2010 we have arranged local instructors for flowmtb guests who can coach you down and give you the secrets you need to succeed. Don't get left behind - get the inside story on how to ride these gnarly trails. This is an optional add-on to the mega accommodation, but we highly recommend you take it! Details and costs will be online shortly.

Race registrations will open on the 11th January at Active Europe.* Please note entry costs are not included in our prices. This will be added to your bill. Prices will be confirmed on the 21 December - last year race entry with a 6/7 day pass was €92.
