more about the trail-flow week
Jules is one of the UK’s top outdoor adventure coaches. A senior tutor with the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Association, Jules has worked closely with the SMBLA since the Association’s foundation and is a member of the working group for development of skills coaching. In fact he’s so famous, that the first purpose-built skills coaching trail in the UK is named after him!
We know what a great tutor he is as we did our TCL and MBL training with him. We learnt a lot from our courses and now you can too.
What are the SMBLA and the TCL?
However, Jules’s brilliance isn’t the only reason to come on the trail-flow week. As well as the 2 days of TCL or MBL training you get 4 extra days of riding in the huge Portes du Soleil region. We’ll take you on our favourite trails so you can fully explore the huge amount of trails.
You’ll go back home having ridden some amazing routes, improved your all-round biking skills and be TCL or MBL trained. Each group will also have a second fully qualified guide to give you even more individual attention.
Even if you’re not intending to work as a guide, you’ll gain a lot from doing the TCL or MBL training. As well as improving your bike handling skills you’ll learn more about navigation, crisis management and bike repairs. All this can come in pretty handy when riding with a group of mates.
To formally go through with the training you’ll need to register with the SMBLA through the Scottish Cycling website (£30), they'll send you a manual and course paper work. You’ll then need to complete a log book of rides and a few route guides. We can chat to you about this, and Jules is also happy to help you out with any questions you have. If you don’t want to do all this, that’s fine, you can come along and do all the training, but won’t be signed off, so won’t be able to go onto assessment.
