swiss cabin fever

What better way to get away from it all than by spending a night out in a Swiss cabin at 2000m?

This trip will see us riding away from the the Portes du Soleil (after milking the lifts to get as high as we can!) then descending way down into Val d'Illiez on the swiss side of the boarder. We'll make our way right down to the Chablais Valley before starting our assent to the Cabin d'Anteme - high above Champery in the Shadows of the Dents du Midi. It's a fair old climb (some 1500m) so we'll be glad of the comfy beds and hospitality. The cabin serves food and beer in it's own garden and even has it's own glacial lake to take a chilly dip in if the weather is hot enough!

After a night in the Cabin we'll be feeling refreshed / groggy (depending on that beer!) for the mammoth 1500m descent down towards the Chablais Valley. Once we reach the bottom, we then make our way back up the Val d'Illiez either by pedal power or use of the handy train back to Champery.

Then its a case of picking from any number of routes back to Morzine. The favorite has to be up and over the infamous Col du Coux at 1920m - before another 1000m descent back to base.

Now that sounds like a proper couple of days out.
